Assignments
Every assignment with its own page. Search by title, reading, or course.
- Autoethnography
Students treat their own reading and writing habits as data. They record a session, transcribe it the way Sondra Perl did, code what recurs, and report what they found.
- The Personal Essay: A "Try"
A first-person essay in language alone. Its real job is to help students find the question they'd want to research later in the course.
- Digital Academic Narrative
Groups compare what their autoethnographies found and turn it into a co-authored digital essay, then present how they used all five modes.
- Digital Genre Analysis
Students collect 5–10 samples of one digital genre, make a digital piece about what the genre does and why it looks the way it does, then defend their own rhetorical choices in writing.
- Digital Writer Self-Portrait
Students apply the five modes of communication to their own identity as writers, for an audience they choose.
- Composition Studies Synthesis Posts
Each student claims a scholarly article in writing studies, synthesizes it in a discussion post, and cites classmates as well as the scholarship.
- Standing Challenges in Writing
Students pick a writing problem that keeps showing up and nobody has solved, then research it, either by joining the scholarly conversation about it or by studying how writers in one genre handle it.
Nothing matches that yet.
